Step-by-Step Usage
Learn how to effectively use Privnote.chat to create and share secure, encrypted notes online with this step-by-step guide.
1. Creating a New Note
To begin, navigate to the Privnote.chat homepage. You will find two distinct text boxes designed for different types of content:
- Top Box (Regular Message): Use this box to enter any text that is intended to be publicly readable or non-sensitive. Content placed here will be visible in its original form.
- Bottom Box (Hidden or Encrypted Message): Input any sensitive or secret information into this box. Text entered here will be securely encrypted and hidden from initial view.
2. Encryption Methods
After entering your content into the appropriate boxes, proceed with encryption:
- Click the "Encrypt Note" button.
- Privnote.chat will instantly apply two encryption methods to your hidden message:
- Zero-Width Character Encryption: Your secret message is subtly embedded within the regular text using zero-width characters. This method renders the encrypted message visually identical to normal text, perfect for discreet communication.
- Binary Encoding: The hidden message is transformed into binary code (sequences of 0s and 1s). This method provides an obvious visual indication of encryption, suitable for situations where it's important to clearly show that the content is secured.
- Both the zero-width character encrypted text and the binary encoded text will be displayed, allowing you to choose the format that best fits your needs.
3. Generating and Sharing Secure Links
Once your note is encrypted, Privnote.chat will generate a unique, secure URL:
- This URL contains your encrypted message and can be shared securely with your intended recipient(s).
- Self-Destruct Feature: Configure the link to automatically expire after certain conditions are met, enhancing security:
- Read-once: The note self-destructs immediately after it is read by the recipient.
- Time-based: Options for self-destruction after 1 hour, 4 hours, 24 hours, or 7 days.
Important Clarification: The self-destruct feature applies to the sharing link, not the encrypted content itself. You can save and reuse the encrypted text (zero-width or binary) independently, even after the link has expired.
4. Decoding and Retrieving Encrypted Content
Encrypted content can be decoded at any time, even after the original link has self-destructed:
- Return to Privnote.chat.
- Paste your saved encrypted text (either zero-width or binary) into the provided decoder.
- Click "DecodeMessage" to instantly decrypt and reveal the hidden information.
This ensures that your secret messages remain accessible to authorized individuals indefinitely, regardless of the link's status.
